The Random Guy I Found Online Who Accidentally Made Me Think

When the Internet Surprises You

I wasn’t planning to find anyone that day — I was just doing what everyone does: scrolling aimlessly through an ocean of over-filtered faces and motivational quotes stolen from Pinterest. The internet, our beloved circus of “authentic souls” and “good vibes only” captions. And then… there he was.

A Stranger Among the Noise

Some random guy.
No blue checkmark, no viral video, no shiny self-help brand. Just a human being who somehow didn’t look like he was trying to sell enlightenment in three easy steps. Which, let’s be honest, was already suspicious.

I clicked anyway. Because curiosity is stronger than common sense.

Unexpected Depth

And while I expected the usual mix of recycled philosophy and digital ego, something felt… different. The tone wasn’t desperate. There was no “subscribe for my mindset course.” Just words — calm, almost annoyingly sincere words. I hate it when the internet gets profound without permission.

What Do You Want — The Reminder

In my book What Do You Want, I talk about how people have no idea what they actually want. We chase random goals, copy-paste dreams, and call that “purpose.” Well, this guy seemed to know that already. Which was both refreshing and mildly irritating. Who gave him permission to skip the confusion phase?

Exploring Ourselves — Beyond the Surface

Then, because I can’t help myself, I thought of Exploring Ourselves. The whole “let’s look inside and find the real us” journey. Usually, people interpret that as “let’s make an Instagram reel about journaling.” But this guy? He seemed like someone who actually did the inner work. He didn’t sound enlightened — just aware. The type of person who has made peace with not having all the answers, and doesn’t need Wi-Fi validation to prove it.

Beyond the Nonsense — The Proof

Scrolling further, I could tell he was the quiet type — the kind who probably scares influencers because he’s immune to hashtags. No selfies with deep captions, no “rise and grind” nonsense. Just thoughts. Real ones. Which, on the internet, is almost an act of rebellion.

And then I remembered Beyond the Nonsense There I. The book where I rant about the absurdities we call “normal life.” The guy was living proof that maybe it’s possible to exist without drowning in that nonsense. Which, frankly, is both admirable and a bit inconvenient for the rest of us still pretending to be busy.

Finding Meaning in the Noise

So yeah, when I found him online, I didn’t find a guru or a brand. I found a stranger who, without trying, reminded me that meaning can still sneak its way through the noise — like an honest typo in a world of perfect filters.

Maybe that’s the real miracle of the internet: every now and then, between the cat videos and fake wisdom, you stumble upon someone who doesn’t play the game. Someone who quietly says, “Hey, you’re not crazy. The world really is that shallow.”

And somehow… that makes you feel a little less alone.
